Chelsea Player In Constant Contact With Real Madrid Over Summer Move From Chelsea

Courtois is said to have told Chelsea top brass he’s got no interest in sticking around at Stamford Bridge.

He’s out of contract next summer and if he’s not sold in this window will leave on a free in 12 months time.

But his options look to be thin on the ground – despite interest from Champions League winners Real.

Journalist Duncan Castles revealed the latest on Courtois on the Transfer Window Podcast.

He said: “Chelsea have the decision, ‘do we hold onto this player who we value at €100m (£88.5m), and lose him for nothing in a year’s time and see how he plays through a season of disgruntlement? Or do we cash in best we can now?’.

“The problem is Courtois only wants to go to certain clubs.

“There’s been interest from Paris St-Germain but Buffon is headed there so that exit door is closed.

“Real Madrid are persistently in contact with him but no actual firm offers.

“So he’s not convinced that Madrid will turn into a serious deal.

“Or Atletico Madrid, the former club where he spent three years on loan from Chelsea.

“To get to Atletico, they need to sell Jan Oblak, who is wanted by Liverpool but according to people close to Oblak, doesn’t want to go to Liverpool.

“So the exit to Atletico is problematic for Courtois.”
