There are footballers that are just eternally fit. When they retired from football, it was just about them stepping a little lower than their usual fitness. And since they are known for top notch deliveries, it was better they threw in the towel. And not risk ending their careers in the “gutters” of criticisms when the ovation is low.
See Pep (in our featured image), one of such Wizies, doing his thing at the training ground. Still as fit as a bull. Good one.
He is set to contend this season. He must win one good trophy or risked falling into that ‘gutter’. With Dani Alves snubbing at a semi-bad time, he needs a good replacement. Tottenham are still doing ‘Baba Ijebu’ on them, so the deal on Kyle Walker is still a No-deal yet. Walker walking nowhere yet until the £50m is paid.(Then, on the side, what’s this I hear about Tottenham wanting Iheanachor after the young Nigerian just passed a Leicester city medicals???)
Away from Pep, Mourinho has no excuse not to make top 4 this season. Let’s not pretend he didn’t make it last season. He got into the hearts and UCL through the roof.
Do we expect anything more? Yes. Why? Because, Jose now has all his kind of players across the lines of Man United’s squad.
Front line. He’s got Lukaku, a strong attacker.
Midfield. He has Pogba, a strong man at the center.
Defense line. Mourinho has new legs to ensure Smalling and Luke Shaw don’t come giving the slack. They, by now, know how to please their manager. Then he has the strong Eric Bailly. Lindelof is also here.
He is also chasing Bakayoko, Morata, Matic… There will be no excuse for Mourinho next season. Judgement will fall by fire if he doesn’t impress.
(Talking about Bakayoko, if ManUnited ends up buying him, then we know Antonio Conte has started the season with a Mourinho assault!)
